Wear gloves and read the operating instructions before opening. Hold the coiled staff in your palm, gently press the small round head to release the latch, then carefully open your hand. To close, place the small end on a non-slip tabletop, press the large end gently and rotate in the loosening direction until the latch catches, then flatten both sides. Do not force it or strike objects. If the coil separates, use gloves to roll it back slowly from the small end and tighten.
